REFLECTION 4 (JULY 08, 2014)

Hi guys, this was another day of making some reflection about our fourth meeting on July 8, 2014. What I liked the most about that day was we tackled about the Technopreneurship Ecosystem and its components. Its component composed of what they called HELF - H means Human resources, E - Environment, L- Laws and policies, and the last one stands for F - Financial resources. Each has an explanation about techno ecosystem that we can surely apply and share to everyone. As we go to our discussions we also tackled about why technopreneurship? While I’m on my seat I thought about that yeah! Why technopreneurship? It is said there that it generates employments which is true. By then, I learned a lot on what technopreneurship really was and how must it applied in the real situations. What I liked also was how to START THE BALL ROLLING which we also tackled about. First the Innovation, it said that person will get an idea, active search, by chance, present employments or experience. Second was Triggering Event which career prospect and deliberate choice. Next was Implementation and Growth. These start-up was a good thing to hear and to learn. I think these may help us to gain an idea to start a new business and a start-up. The start- up and Company belongs to BUSINESS MODEL GENERATION that differentiate the two. As what I still remembered it was ask there that what’s a company? And what is start up? To those who are confused and compared the two the same that which is very wrong. To explain further Company is a business organization that sell a product or services in exchange for revenue and profit. For me it’s more on selling just to have the income returned by an investment. This is more on investing that you should place a capital in expecting of driving income or profit from its use. While Start-up , as what I had recall it is a temporary organization, a group of a student, investors or people that will share and create ideas. Start – up is also designed to search some innovative ideas that will not just gain popularity but also gain a big or lifetime revenue to those who gave it. It is also repeatable and scalable , repeatable in a sense that the organization can repeat to create their ideas and scalable that they can develop and upgrade more their ideas to make it perfect or better to use by others. Start-up also deals with Business Model. At that day also to follow the Business Model Generation discussion of course start-up versus existing companies also tackled. It is more on differentiating the two that start-ups begin with a series of unknown so it mostly they only searched for an idea. On the other hand , the existing companies deal with execution of known, so it’s more like executing the idea or the business that they want to implement. The insight is that management tools built to execute do not work because tools and idea alone can’t execute without the first process and its proceedings. I liked also the most when the three crucial components for business was introduced to us. I learned that Excellence Market has many opportunity and it focus on Timing which the idea or window of opportunity look brief and if the window is brief the entrepreneur will rush to open. This are just the things that I still remembered that day. By the ways, our facilitator also introduced us about the Business Model Canvas which has 9 significant components to fill in just to make an idea from nothing or scratch then come up with just an idea that will convince everyone to have not just that but also to apply in the near future. What is a Business Model? – It is how the company creates value for itself while delivering products or services for customers. So far this are the part that I liked the most because I learned from it how to make a business model canvas, what are the difference between start- up and company, and what are the things that should have done just to have a productive idea that the organization can claim a revenue.

On that day, aside from the things that I liked the most I also have the least part that I don’t really liked. First was when our facilitator gave us reminders about the start –up competition that we should submit the form ahead of time because the deadline is fast approaching. Actually I don’t have any idea about it but since we already discussed the Business Model at that time then I already had the idea. The thing was I didn’t expect to submit a form for the competition because I thought that only those interesting must only submit and compete. Unfortunately my thoughts doesn’t support the truth , I’m confused and still learning and building ideas about those activities that our facilitator will compulsory join us. What I also liked the least when our facilitator give us an instructions to propose and create a Business Model Canvas next meeting. I was so confused and sad at that time because the learnings and idea about the activity still hanging up with my mind and an idea that I don’t even know if possible. Thou, I have thoughts like that, I know I can do it and propose an idea that I can surely gain a revenue. Maybe I can’t propose an idea faster but I know that time will come I can create one and made it different from others. We know that minding and creating ideas is not easy and actually tough to do because it takes a long time to extract an idea that they will surely agree and approve.  For me searching for problems and solution to the problems is hard to think of, especially when I’m going to apply it in an application that will help the android or device users to solve their problems and give them more entertainment to make their days very interesting. These are just the part of our 4^th meeting day that I remembered what I liked the most and the least.  

REFLECTION 3 (JUNE 24, 2014) Which part of the sharing you like the most and least?

It was Tuesday again, on June 24, 2014 at 8:00 – 11: 00 am we met again for our subject Technopreneurship.  Another day of featuring the talents of those who always came late and another day of recalling this day to create a reflection. For me it was a good and really great day because I came early and never be late again. But before our class was started our facilitator always had that routine to pray before we get started. After that we seated and then he started to entertain those who came late. As usual they performed again just to sing until our facilitator satisfied. Since they are few who came late last last meeting our facilitator noticed it already and he decided to change the consequences that instead of showcasing their talents which was very common like always singing and singing again, they should feed the stomach of their classmates so that we would be happy because others might have no breakfast just to came early in class so at least the feeding maybe a big help. For me as a student and an early comer sometimes I would be happy that someone will gave me some food as a reward of being responsible and one of the early Eagle not bird in the USEP, no just joking J. As one of the beneficiary of course I prefer that kind of punishment to those who came late, thanks for our facilitator hahaha. And also no one will dear to come late again because I know it is not easy to feed more or less 50 persons with just your own allowance.  Afterwards, we also agreed on what our facilitator said about the consequences. By then at my seat I realized and worried about next meeting that what if I’m the one and only one will came late? Am’ I really going to feed everyone? Oh my! A big suicide. Hahaha…Anyways for my own good it’s better to wake up and came early to avoid those instances.

During that time, after our facilitator tackled about the new punishment, he then proceed to have an activity and that was on what can we say about the three images that he projected , on what we saw and what are we going to feel if ever we are in their situations. But before that he instructed as to prepare a short bond paper to answer the activity, which we didn’t think that he will require it. At that time I was so worried because I don’t even have a piece of it. All I did was to turn my neck 180 degrees just to find someone who will offer me a short bond paper, so sadL. After a few minutes on seeking for a short bond paper fortunately, we have those Local Counsel Officers who offer us to buy their short bond paper which cost 2 pesos each. Since they have a lot of it I’m not the only one who bought from them but almost all of as. What a wonderful day ! J It seems that we were not a college student who always ready for everything, but I admitted that we enjoyed it and that part what I liked most about.

Back to the activity, since we already had our own short bond paper our facilitator said that each one of us or individually, we must write our own understanding, feeling, and solution about the three images in a technopreneurship manner or way of thinking. Those images have different situations and each of us must have a group. Our facilitator said that we should divide into three groups to assign those three images. Since inside the computer laboratory have only three rows, then our facilitator just decided to keep those who seated at the same rows as our group for the activity. I’ am so happy then because I belonged to the group where I already know everyone which was so easy for me to communicate. Then our facilitator follows that after answering the activity someone in the group should collect our papers and collect some general ideas about the selected image that we should describe, understand and give a solution. Before anything else I would like to recall those three images.

The first image of the group one, there was a father who seated in the street with his little son that seems begging for something because they looked like a beggar; they looked so helpless like they don’t have any food, clothes, and shelter. Obviously the father doesn’t have a work or job to feed his family that’s why they ended up as a beggar. This scenario I really liked the least, because seeing the father which is so helpless and has no job was very a heart breaking for me. For me it so sad to realized and to admit that this is the truth about in the real world, that having no work or job will make us suffer and will grave us to death. Even if everyone will see you dying they still cannot help you because in the real world we are very practical and we must just focus in our own family to give or provide them the living they wanted to have. It so sad that in this world there always that inequality of giving opportunity to those who wanted to have a job. It’s very disappointing that there’s always a gap between those who has a degree and those who were illiterate. Companies, businesses, and other establishments who made job opportunities now a day’s don’t easily give a work for those who determined and hardworking people because they have that high standards to those who will be qualified that’s why it so sad to see that the truth was like that.The father on the image was so helpless in providing the needs of his child because he don’t have a job, a job that will gave his family and children to have a good living. Seeing the image of the father, for me he still have the less opportunity to have a work because he is not disabled, he’s body can worked still. Knowing that he can still work or can do something for his family I think he can grab a job that will fit him even if he was illiterate person. I think the lack of those who don’t have a job was they don’t have the guts or confidence to showcase their skills and having a strategy on how they will convince the company or employer to hire them. Being a job seeker you should also have that strong personality to prove them that despite all of your weaknesses you still have the hard work and determination to learn and cope up with them. These are just my point of view on what was the image all about. Back to the group one, their leader collected their general ideas and came up with an idea that having no job means you are very unfortunate one especially if you have a family to feed on. Knowing that you don’t have a job because you didn’t have a diploma to present that you are graduated on a certain degree course, people must realized and planned about having a family. The problem to those people that has no job was they still giving birth without planning and realizing on what life their children will have in this world. Fortunately even others didn’t graduated they do have work because maybe they have that mind set to avoid giving their family a helpless situation. The group one also discuss on what they can contribute or help to their parents if ever they don’t have a job. According to them they are willing to teach their parents on how to use computer and after they know about it they will teach them about creating a programs,on how to be a developers and make it as they asset or skills to have a home base work. By that according to them their parents will learned how computers will help them. They also willing to teach them to be a technopreneur or entrepreneur because knowing it already at school was need to be shared by others to help them and made it as their default mind set to have a better life. They also said having less than three or two children will made their lives easier.If my parents don’t have a job then as an Information technology student and having a technopreneurship subject I will insist to them that it is better to invest our own business because having our own will make our lives easier and I think it’s more comfortable to work and manage it well. Of course the business will not going to grow if I will not teach them on how to deal with it and what does an entrepreneur characteristics and personality should have. In general the image one shows only what does our own country and government lack in providing their fellow men a better lively hood. That now a days in the Philippines even if you are a graduate of a 4 or 5 years degree you cannot assure that you will get a job because of the independent standards and qualification of the companies that government

In group two which I belonged, we were given images which there are three ugly girls who already graduated in their respective courses. Of course being a fresh graduate they should be able to compete with those who also seek for a professional job or position. But it’s so sad to know now a day that other companies seek also for those who have a pleasing personality. So in this case unfortunately these three girls don’t have that qualification because they don’t have that what they called a pleasing personality. When we assigned for this kind of situation I thought that it’s simple for me to explain how we are going to defend the situation of the three girls, on what solution we are going to contribute and what can we say about that “pleasing personality” that they are seeking to an employee, but I was wrong that I can explained it well because of the time limit. During the activity I only wrote a little, which are those I importantly can say and contribute. When the time ups I was panic to finished my reflection about the assigned image and then they collected and discus what general idea that we will present in front. After we gathered a general ideas we ended up to choose our own opinion on what can we say about their qualifications (pleasing personality) that the companies searching for aside from the skills of an employee. Our leader went in front and she said that the company has a point on including the pleasing personality to their qualifications that an employee must have, because we all know that in business or company or any works there is always a situations that the employee needs to present or face their clients in a very presentable way including their natural beauties. Having a pleasing personality is one of an asset that a person can give to the company especially when they are going to present or have a meeting with their clients. Then our leader followed that of course aside from being gifted to have a pleasing personality, well skilled person and passionate to their works is more counted and companies needed to have. Hence, the most important is the skills, hard works and passion of an employee. For me this also the part I liked the least for it shows that other companies are so harsh to include that qualification which others don’t have. I didn’t mean all companies are cruel but all I want to deliver was what if that person doesn’t have that quality? What if she or he only has that high skilled and hard working person? So it means still he or she is not qualified for the position or job that he or she wanted to be in? Oh! Come on, what an unpleasant reason that he is not qualified because he or she had no pleasing personality. For me it’s so unfair, it shows inequality of human rights that they also strived hard just to graduate to have a right or good job. If that would be the case then it seems that our government is useless for they don’t even do something just to fight for the rights of those who are craving for a job. We all know that having a job will sustained and composed our lives just to be alive in this world. If I were the companies the pleasing personality doesn’t matter because as far as I know the purpose why I need to built a business and hire an employment is to made it more developed and has a good services to their clients or costumer and let everyone knows that we have a high skilled employees that they are very brilliant and productive to make my company popular not because of we have a pleasing personality employees but because of the job and worked well done. Back to the discussion on how she delivered our general idea in this kind of situation. According to our facilitator our group delivered the ideas well that he seeks for. Aside from that our leader also said that if that would be the case that one of the biggest percentage in the qualification of the companies are having that kind of pleasing personality which you don’t have then the option would be is to apply what does technopreneurship subject wanted us to do and that would be to invest our own company or business so that there will be no pleasing personality qualification.  For me it’s better to invest our own so that no one will judge us on how we are going to manage our own business. It’s better that no one will complain about what qualification that I’m going to implement. But of course if you have that pleasing personality and high skilled person and always determined to work you are very fortunate because lots of opportunity will come into your life. In real business even if you are ugly it doesn’t matter what your appearance should be but the things and work you contributed must be highlighted. I as a human being and not a perfect one I believed that God created us equally ,that no one is so much ugly and will surpass the beauty of others.  Humans are just the rulers on their own that’s why they can freely criticised others and each of us became judgemental to everyone not considering that even us has a defect of being human.

The last image was in a group three, it shows that many people or workers are protesting just to get the attention of the government officials to make their salaries or wages increase not just always or forever in a minimum wage. As a worker they have also the rights to increase their salaries because they worked hard even if in their tough situations just to get an income every month to provide the needs of their families. This one also I liked the least because people and workers are seeking an attention in the government official just to grant their wish. According to group three leaders instead they will murmur and shouting or protesting in front the government it’s better to made a plan in their own on how they will get out and earned more money to have a higher income that they wanted because it seems like they protesting for nothing. And aside from that they are just complicating their lives on doing that kind of stupidity and shameful actions. That they must realized that instead of spending their time on protesting they must think to invest their own business so that they will provide the demands that they wanted to be in hand.  Knowing our government corrupt and lots of issues about the funds and money those people should realize that even our government crave for money so it is impossible that the government will immediately provide the demands that they wanted to implement. Let say the government will say that they will increase their salaries the question is, how long they will going to conduct it? Or when will they are going to start it? So that’s it, those questions are just a reminders that our government is so slow on giving and delivering our needs and demands for they are the only one can control and manage our funds. That our government will only provide as always late if not late they will provide us problems or nothing at all compared to the other countries that even those smaller one has a high propelling economy compared to us. Back to the demands that the workers wanted to increase their minimum wage like those teachers that we all know they sacrifices alot on teaching the student to be educated in the near future and has a good work to have. Giving an example like them needs to increase their salaries yearly , if we were going to compared from other countries it seems that Philippines has that slower propelling economy because of the official government way of thinking and managing our country and people. In that case workers should realize that our government is useless, I know not forever but at this time our government is getting worst. In general on sharing the group three’s opinion and suggestions workers should also think for an alternative mind set like investing their own business like a technopreneur always in mind.

Subsequently, after we shared the ideas in each group on what we can suggest and contribute to avoid or help that kind of person in the images I became then more interested in the technopreneurship subject, because it made us see the real world to make some money. What I liked the most during that third meeting were we able to listen to their sharing about the three images. I liked when the group one shared first their thoughts on what can they help to their fathers that has no job. Then our facilitator commented that , that’s not the thing that he wanted to hear from them but what they can innovate to the situation. So by then our facilitator was not satisfied about their answers. Then I liked also the most was our grouped sharing which is group two. I liked about on how our leader Deannie delivered our general ideas about the assigned image and how can we resolved it. Then our facilitator at that time commented that, thats the point that he wanted to heard about because it really fits the situation on how we are going to contradict their default mind set.  I liked also the sharing of the group three because they also have that idea which is not right that protesting is a way on getting out from poverty, still we individual can solved our own problems. Hence I liked the most that we shared all the things in our mind about the three images. What I really liked the least was about the reality that in our country inequality of human rights are always present , liked even if you are dying and you don’t have a money because you are poor no one will help you because you are like that. That our government only sees those wealthy peoples problem not anymore the poor one. That in reality world poverty is getting worst not just to other country but including us.

As what I can see in the deeper understanding of being a technopreneur they are the one who is the key and can propel the economy of the country. To set aside that thoughts back to the class during that meeting our instructor also started to discuss about what really a technopreneurship subject on how we  were able to learn and apply and what those important thing that we must remembered. For me as what I thought technopreneurship is a good way on doing some start up business for you to be an employer not an employee. First of all let me refresh your understanding about Technopreneurship. What is Technopreneurship? - Technopreneurship is a process in the formation of new businesses that see technology as a base, with the hope that the creation of strategies and innovations that can be put right later on technology as a factor for national economic development. It stated that technology is the main subject that the technopreneur must create and must be implemented so that people may use it to their purposes.  By that, the what they called High Technology will exist and that will help later on our economy progress. Technopreneurship concepts as disclosed basically integrate the technology with entrepreneurial skills (Enterpreneurship skills). In this Technopreneurship base concept entrepreneurship development starts from the invention and innovation in technology. An innovations and invention that will help not just individuals to their own needs and work to be easily done, but to reach also the goals of our country or even in our own local areas. It also hightech ventures in ICt, electronis, internet, life sciences and BIOTECH. Like for example ,CISCO, Nano Tech. Service firm also is involved where technology is critical to their mission, business that provides services. And Delivery or designs of hightech products like computer hardware or any devices. It is also use of technology in the delivery or conduct of normal business activities. Marketing and launching the technology to all business company that knows the significance of technology is also one of the Technopreneurship do business.

What does the role of a technopreneur?-  A person who destroy the existing economic order (creative destruction) by introducing new products and services, by creating new forms of organizations and by exploiting new raw materials (Schumpeter, 1934). Technopreneur is Someone who perceives an opportunity and creates an organization to pursue it. The Person who undertake risks ( by creating an enterprise or business) that has a chance of profit or success technopreneurship distinguishes themselves through their ability to accumulate and manage knowledge as well as their ability to mobilize resources to achieve a specified business or social goal (Kuemmerle, 2002). A person that has a bold, imaginative, deviator from established business methods who constantly seeks the opportunity to commercialize new products, technologies processes and arrangements (Baumol, 2002). Technopreneur distinguishes logic from tradition, common tradition from prejudice, prejudice from common sense and common sense from non sense while integrating variety of ideas from diverse groups and discipline (Manuel cereijo, 2002). A person skilled in applied creativity thrive in response to challenge and lack for unconventional solutions. They experience challenges, creative visions solutions, build stories that explains their visions for and then act to the part of the solutions. They forget new paths and risk failure, but persistently seek success (Dorf and Byers, 2005). A success that no one will take us from them. They are those business mind set people who usually create and deal with those interested one about their innovations.

During our facilitator discussions I realized that how do I see myself as a technopreneur? This question also sinks in my mind. As an Information Technology student and obviously it is our concern to know what really technology is, on where it came from, and how it was developed and was known by the people. Since technopreneur is part of our study it is also important to us to learn and how to be a technopreneur. As a professional someday and become a technopreneur, for me it is very important to be wise and more intelligent on making decisions to deal with those business tycoons. Aside from it, I know that being a technopreneur requires logic, techniques, comprehension, smart decisions, strategies, and confidence. First I should have that logic to understand more about technology, on how I’ am going to create new form of technology that soon will be familiar to everyone. A method of human thought that involves thinking in a linear, step by step manner about how a problem can solve. Logic that has many basis principles including that what they called scientific method. I should have also the techniques to present and prove to them that my innovations are very useful or unique to everyone. A technique that I can practically bid my clients to have my innovations. I think I can also comprehend some instances in innovating a technology. As a technopreneur its normal and needed to comprehend a particular situation that may affects your business field because your business might place into risk. I might someday have to be a smart person to make decisions to come up with a good result in my career. Being smart in making decision should be in a right place and right person to deal with. For me as a technopreneur, seeing myself as a smart one might really gave me a big change and opportunity to have a good and a lifetime career in the near future. Since I wanted to exhibit my social ability or cleverness I should be smart enough to be a smart one. I think I should have a strategy to set all my goals into reality. As a technopreneur I need to have a plan of action intended to accomplish a specific goal. I think my confidence will develop more because I know that in every deal and experiences that I will encounter may boost my skills to show them that I can do my best. As a technopreneur balancing between the work for technology and for the family and friends must manage well. As a one that works and involved with developing, innovating, and inventing technology I should have the right time and right place for it. If it is work or job it should be it ,nothing more nothing less, being professional is necessary so that limitation will do exist between some important things like family. As a technoprenuer family must also recognized despite all of the things related to my work. For me, busy in a business is not the reason why we are going to neglect our family because abandoning them may either can affects me in my attitude doing my work well. Friends also important to me because sometimes whenever we need someone to talk to or someone that we need a help they also can be a big help. I know that having a start up career in being a technopreneur there are those times that we don’t even know who we are right now, or time that we need to find our self first especially when we are at the peak of our success and those times need as to be alone but we must realized that family and friends are always there for us to help. They are just waiting you to feel them that they are still part of your life even in your hard or tough times. And lastly as a technopreneur myself I will going to pursue my work to meet my goals in the field of Information Technology industry.  I know that every individual has its own dreams and that dreams must become true. Of course to come up with that dreams it is part of our life to pass all the risk, all the challenges, and all the tough times in our lives to become strong and fearless on what may future will bring to us. Having a dream in real life is the same with aiming a career that we should deserved to have. A career that will show our real skills and passion on doing a job that can made us happy. A career that may bring us in a life that we never expected or highly imagined that will become true. A career that everyone will inspire and motivate to have the same too.  A dream that may move not just everyone’s heart but also life to deserved more.  All these are dreams or careers that individual should have. As I know before you already captured your dreams you must experienced first those hard times, those hopeless times that you think no one can’t help you. But the truth was only yourself can help you to find all those possible solutions of the problems in life and that is by trusting yourself to do things that you wanted to do, trusting yourself to show others that you are able to stand alone even without them. Trusting yourself on what you can do is the best traits that we need to have to reach our careers in life do come true.

In general, that day it was fun and amazing to heard about the new consequence that our facilitator said and changed. For me that meeting is worth sharing for because of the facts about those three images that we had as our activity.  It was also very interesting to see that all what we did those times are just reflection of us right now. I really liked the most was when our facilitator started to discuss about the technopreneurship on what characteristics and personality does a technopreneur must have. To end our journey at that day what I learned from our facilitator was we don’t need to be intelligent or smart just to be a technopreneur,  the only thing that we must have is an idea to innovate something new. Then, he also said that we will not having our meeting next week because he is going to go to everywhere which is also related to his work. And it is also the part that I would like the most. I’am also looking forward to those whom are going to came late in the class to provide as foods as a punishment. That’s all I was remembered about.

PIRATES OF SILICON VALLEY

      1.) WHAT ARE THE FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE AND         SUCCESS OF STEVE JOBS AS TECHNOPRENEUR ?

    There are lots of factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur. I would like to cite first of the factors that contributed to his success. First was because of his genius and brilliant brain , he created a technology which no one would never created nor imagined to figured what it was look like and how it would be created.  Second was because of his knowledge and creativity to made such thing that he never knew to become famous and in demand. Third was because of his work and determination to continue doing it without anything more expensive materials and some other thing that he would hardly see and have.  Fourth was his genuine on everything he would do and also with his companions. Fifth, because of his friends and family they helped Steve Jobs to create the computer, they help Steve to support his idea, and they help and support him in everything he does, no matter will happened. Sixth was because Steve dreamt big to surpass the IBM, which he called his mortal enemy. IBM was the biggest and famous International Business Machines Company that everyone was dreamed to be part of. That’s why I can say that Steve Jobs was one of a genius and amazing man in the whole world. Seventh was, because of his attitude towards developing more computers that he firstly called “Apple” with matching logo of an apple that has a one bite. Eight was because of his unique rulings or managing all the people and things that surrounds him. Ninth, because also of Steve Wozniak his best friend the one who always there for him until to the peak of his success. I believed that Steve Wozniak contributed lot of knowledge and a big help for him. Without him I think Steve Jobs will probably can’t stand alone or motivate more for Steve Wozniak was also support and really can help him in creating the computer by brain storming and sharing all their ideas to each other. With Steve Wozniak I think Steve can easily done his work on implementing it. Tenth, because Steve Jobs has that big confidence to deal and face all those business tycoons in the world including INTEL the first one who deal with Steve. As If you don’t know, INTEL is a Corporation, a US – based Multinational Corporation that is best known for designing and manufacturing microprocessors and specialized integrated circuits. That’s also the reason why Steve Jobs computer creation was known around the world because of those Multinational Companies or Corporation that really interested to his creation. These are just some factors that I think grabbed him into his great success. For me it seems that his success was smoothly and gently going upward that he could never think what circumstances it will bring to his life. An obstacle that will uphold his emotions on how he would control his life of being so famous, great, powerful and wealthy.

Second one is citing of the factors that contributed to his failure as a technopreneur. One of the factors that I think contributed to his failure was being so weird sometimes. I don’t know why he acted and imagined something like that, that the normal person could see him might misunderstand that he was mentally retarded. But for me it’s just a slight factor that I think it might affect his career. Another one was because of his desire to become powerful, powerful in a way that people will be amazed by his creation, a computer creation. That people would want to meet him because he was so smart or genius on how he comes up with this what we called nowadays a “Computer”, oh! I think not just those ordinary people but also those big company industries in the whole world.  Being powerful is not bad but doing and applying it in a wrong way matters the most. One also of the factors that contributed to his failure as a technopreneur was being so greedy. For me he has that consumed by selfish desire that he think no one must take it from him. He is over reacted when someone will take an interview or survey to his company like what was he did in the movie that he insulted that particular person who was just doing an interview to the Intel employee or manager might he is, on without knowing that person might can help his company from any risk but of course maybe he just protecting his reputation. Steve Jobs also very suspicious that made him feel to everyone that he is so strict on anything what they wanted to do or work on. I think he is being suspicious because he was already become wealthy about his creation. It made me feel that Steve just wanted to privatize all his ideas and innovations so that no one will pirate it. Additional from that he also self centred person, he wanted that everything he said must be done early or possibly like what he did to his employee he became angry then, just because of not finishing the program that he wanted to have. Like what also he always did to his employees whenever they are going to have a company party he always acted so weird and felt like he was a God to his creation. One also of the factor was when he got so famous and wealthy he changed a lot, even his girlfriend that was pregnant he never entertained. Steve Wozniak also felt the same way too but he still there to help him. Until the time came that Steve Wozniak (his best friend) gave up on him because his doing so weird and aside from that he never understand or give importance the feeling of others especially to his employees and all the people that loves him including his girlfriend and family. The baby that his girlfriend gave birth also contributed him to his failure, because it affects him so much that he can’t work and think well. Everything he does make him angry, I think he was guilty about the baby because he rejected her as his child. But time goes by he realized that he must see the baby and named her “LISA” that’s why he insisted to name his computer “LISA”. By then even his co partners in the company was alarmed about the issue regarding to the baby that he must gave the mother money just to keep silent to the issue because it might affect Steve Jobs name and the company. In behalf of that his company and creation still murmurings in whole world, until such time Bill Gates came and revealed his brilliant ideas to Steve. Bill Gates is one of the factors that affect the success of Steve, it came that Bill took the idea of Steve’s company and made them as theirs but the truth was its Steve’s big idea. Later on Steve knows about it and deals with Bill Gates idea. An Idea on what program that he might can do to work on the computer that every user can play or used to. That program called the Microsoft and now was part of the apple computer. These are just the factors that I think contributed to Steve’s failure, because at the end and up until now Bill Gates was known as the wealthiest man in the world.

For me as a technopreneur and will become well known someday, I might also have those factors that Steve Jobs have, but I will assure that I can balance everything that surrounds me, especially my family and loved ones. I know that being famous and wealthy might deliver or put you in a wrong way, the best thing to do is   just keep going on no matter what, because it will make your life messier if you will become weak in every challenge that you will encountered. Being a technopreneur you must also be wise and brilliant in every innovation and decisions that you will made. Be patience to all the challenges and time that will test your temper. Be approachable to all your client and employees. Being a technopreneur one also of the best thing on dealing and meeting up with your client you must be presentable like you should wear formal attire so that your client will be proud of you and be friends with you, unless you’re like Steve Jobs that you’re the first one who invented something that every company will bid you because of your great and brilliant invention. So far Pirates of the Silicon Valley really helps me to realize that Steve Jobs is not an ordinary person that you can talk to and just go with the flow because a person like him has a different thinking and mindset that you must be in his place too. Well, these are just my observations and opinions about what are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur.

 2.) HOW DO SEE YOURSELF AS A TECHNOPRENEUR?

  First of all let me refresh your understanding about Technopreneurship. What is Technopreneurship? - Technopreneurship is a process in the formation of new businesses that see technology as a base, with the hope that the creation of strategies and innovations that can be put right later on technology as a factor for national economic development. It stated that technology is the main subject that the technopreneur must create and must be implemented so that people may use it to their purposes.  By that, the what they called High Technology will exist and that will help later on our economy progress. Technopreneurship concepts as disclosed basically integrate the technology with entrepreneurial skills (Enterpreneurship skills). In this Technopreneurship base concept entrepreneurship development starts from the invention and innovation in technology. An innovations and invention that will help not just individuals to their own needs and work to be easily done, but to reach also the goals of our country or even in our own local areas. It also hightech ventures in ICt, electronis, internet, life sciences and BIOTECH. Like for example ,CISCO, Nano Tech. Service firm also is involved where technology is critical to their mission, business that provides services. And Delivery or designs of hightech products like computer hardware or any devices. It is also use of technology in the delivery or conduct of normal business activities. Marketing and launching the technology to all business company that knows the significance of technology is also one of the Technopreneurship do business.

What does the role of a technopreneur?-  A person who destroy the existing economic order (creative destruction) by introducing new products and services, by creating new forms of organizations and by exploiting new raw materials (Schumpeter, 1934). Technopreneur is Someone who perceives an opportunity and creates an organization to pursue it. The Person who undertake risks ( by creating an enterprise or business) that has a chance of profit or success technopreneurship distinguishes themselves through their ability to accumulate and manage knowledge as well as their ability to mobilize resources to achieve a specified business or social goal (Kuemmerle, 2002). A person that has a bold, imaginative, deviator from established business methods who constantly seeks the opportunity to commercialize new products, technologies processes and arrangements (Baumol, 2002). Technopreneur distinguishes logic from tradition, common tradition from prejudice, prejudice from common sense and common sense from non sense while integrating variety of ideas from diverse groups and discipline (Manuel cereijo, 2002). A person skilled in applied creativity thrive in response to challenge and lack for unconventional solutions. They experience challenges, creative visions solutions, build stories that explains their visions for and then act to the part of the solutions. They forget new paths and risk failure, but persistently seek success (Dorf and Byers, 2005). A success that no one will take us from them. They are those business mind set people who usually create and deal with those interested one about their innovations.

How do I see myself as a technopreneur? This question also sinks in my mind. As an Information Technology student and obviously it is our concern to know what really technology is, on where it came from, and how it was developed and was known by the people. Since technopreneur is part of our study it is also important to us to learn and how to be a technopreneur. As a professional someday and become a technopreneur, for me it is very important to be wise and more intelligent on making decisions to deal with those business tycoons. Aside from it, I know that being a technopreneur requires logic, techniques, comprehension, smart decisions, strategies, and confidence. First I should have that logic to understand more about technology, on how I’ am going to create new form of technology that soon will be familiar to everyone. A method of human thought that involves thinking in a linear, step by step manner about how a problem can solve. Logic that has many basis principles including that what they called scientific method. I should have also the techniques to present and prove to them that my innovations are very useful or unique to everyone. A technique that I can practically bid my clients to have my innovations. I think I can also comprehend some instances in innovating a technology. As a technopreneur its normal and needed to comprehend a particular situation that may affects your business field because your business might place into risk. I might someday have to be a smart person to make decisions to come up with a good result in my career. Being smart in making decision should be in a right place and right person to deal with. For me as a technopreneur, seeing myself as a smart one might really gave me a big change and opportunity to have a good and a lifetime career in the near future. Since I wanted to exhibit my social ability or cleverness I should be smart enough to be a smart one. I think I should have a strategy to set all my goals into reality. As a technopreneur I need to have a plan of action intended to accomplish a specific goal. I think my confidence will develop more because I know that in every deal and experiences that I will encounter may boost my skills to show them that I can do my best.

Relating myself to Steve Jobs I can see that as a technopreneur I will also do the same way too. I felt that in his situation it’s not easy to show his real aim about the Apple Company’s goal. Like what Steve Jobs did to Bill he just wanted to protect his idea to avoid the risk that might happened, but at the end they ended up to be a good partner in the Apple Company. I will do the same way too towards giving my all for the company. Like Steve I will also be a hardworking person that no matter what happened I will still continue working for my goal and to be consistent in my career on being the real creator on my own innovations. I must also think wisely in everything that I will speak of so that there will be no more issues. As a technopreneur it is a must that we should careful about the things that we will act and implement. One thing also I will gonna do was analyzing all the problems and situations well so that nothing or no one will be affected if ever there will be a mess might happened. Planning also is part of getting your goals easily. A great plan before doing or implementing your inventions is better to have than doing nothing for it. Preparing and planning things before starting and putting it all into action is very important because doing business planning will served as your foundation in doing such things that will make big difference in your company. Especially in the field of technology, that involves more materials to use and the hard work of people. Since technology now a day is gradually changing and get so high technopreneur should create more another ideas on how to maintain the technologies as part of the people’s everyday lives. Like Steve having a startup company may be able to bring you in a pressured state. If ever I will be in his shoes I will also made decisions carefully and will control all my employees in my hand to have a better out come in every project that I will made. As a technopreneur I will show to my employees that I can be easily approach regarding all about their concerns. That if ever they are not yet prepared to have any of the program that they must done as a technopreneur I can understand the things or reason that they said to me.

As a technopreneur balancing between the work for technology and for the family and friends must manage well. As a one that works and involved with developing, innovating, and inventing technology I should have the right time and right place for it. If it is work or job it should be it ,nothing more nothing less, being professional is necessary so that limitation will do exist between some important things like family. As a technoprenuer family must also recognized despite all of the things related to my work. For me, busy in a business is not the reason why we are going to neglect our family because abandoning them may either can affects me in my attitude doing my work well. Friends also important to me because sometimes whenever we need someone to talk to or someone that we need a help they also can be a big help. I know that having a start up career in being a technopreneur there are those times that we don’t even know who we are right now, or time that we need to find our self first especially when we are at the peak of our success and those times need as to be alone but we must realized that family and friends are always there for us to help. They are just waiting you to feel them that they are still part of your life even in your hard or tough times. And lastly as a technopreneur myself I will going to pursue my work to meet my goals in the field of Information Technology industry. 

3.) WOULD YOU CHOOSE THE SAME PATH CAREER THAT STEVE JOBS TAKE, WHY OR WHY NOT?

       I know that every individual has its own dreams and that dreams must become true. Of course to come up with that dreams it is part of our life to pass all the risk, all the challenges, and all the tough times in our lives to become strong and fearless on what may future will bring to us. Having a dream in real life is the same with aiming a career that we should deserved to have. A career that will show our real skills and passion on doing a job that can made us happy. A career that may bring us in a life that we never expected or highly imagined that will become true. A career that everyone will inspire and motivate to have the same too.  A dream that may move not just everyone’s heart but also life to deserved more.  All these are dreams or careers that individual should have. As I know before you already captured your dreams you must experienced first those hard times, those hopeless times that you think no one can’t help you. But the truth was only yourself can help you to find all those possible solutions of the problems in life and that is by trusting yourself to do things that you wanted to do, trusting yourself to show others that you are able to stand alone even without them. Trusting yourself on what you can do is the best traits that we need to have to reach our careers in life do come true.

When we get into our own career I know that there are factors that have a contribution into our success and failure as a technopreneur. Like what Steve Jobs experienced he get involved in a situation that can fail his career and might give him risk to give up anything he already have. Steve also experienced those factors that have a big contribution to his success in life. Lifes maybe go ups and down but the important is we must be responsible in all those decisions that we will made. For me life’s today really matters because what you did today will be the come up of your future. I’m not saying that what you think literally things that results will come up in the future , what I’ am trying to say was what you have done today will counted in the future.

If I were given a chance to take the path of Steve Jobs in the near future why not I prefer to? If having that kind of brilliant mind of him, well it’s my pleasure to have it.  As we know Steve is one of a kind, he has that unique potential and skills that no one will have. We know that he is the only person who created the computer that no one could imagine to exist. Taking the path or having the same situation in his career I think we will also have the same attitude towards dealing those people and works, the same point of views , the same thinking and thoughts , also having the same some of his weird personality and characteristics. For me having the same with some of his characteristics matters a lot because without his strong characteristics he will not probably see and known as an apple computer creator. I saw from him the intelligent that no one will have. I saw that he has that reputation to stand on. He wisely deals with those some business tycoons. He sees that everything he does is good for everyone but unfortunately not all of it is right. He has that traits that he don’t aware that he already have. I just only admire him from being a hardworking, genius, and different from others. The personality that I don’t want him is that he usually acted so weird that some may misinterpret him that he is a retarded person, I think it is because of his over genius mind. Actually after watching his movie on how he got to that success, I learned a lot from him. On what does technoprenuer do in developing more his skills and finding his self on the centred of his success. Steve had his own originality, he never steal others big ideas. As what I noticed to him when he was at the peak of his success he began to change and he don’t care about the feelings of others especially to his girlfriend. I just only admire his positive traits.

If I were different from Steve’s career path I might be not as genius as he was. I think I will be different from him. As an Information Technology student I think my career path will be a simple technopreneur that having a small start up business involving computer technology or any kind of it. A start up that only have that small idea on how to develop my skills in creating a new form of technology and by sharing or teaching also others on what I already learned before. A technopreneur that deals only with those small business men. Maybe I’m just doing a little common development towards my innovations. I think my career path is not complicated as Steve Jobs had. Yes, I know that everyone dreamt about to have the path of Steve , but the question is are that person that will balance everything ? I mean about your attitude in your work place that you will still approach and care about your employees feelings? That you could be fair to everyone in spite to your success?   Are you still that person when you are at the peak of your success?  These are just questions that entered into my mind if ever you will be on Steve’s place. For me maybe there will be changes that will going to change. I know that being a technopreneur takes a long time to come up with a real innovation because it takes logic and analysis on what technology you will going to create even just it is a form of ideas. Technopreneur must be hardworking like Steve Jobs so that innovation like his may exist. As far as I know technoprenuer has a big part or contribution to make our economy progress. Technopreneurs are those people who have a smart idea on giving something new to the people.

           

I know each of us has a different path to go in the near future. I think that path should fit your passion. You must love what you are doing, so that when time comes you will feel it easily to overcome.  Even myself I knew what path I should take because I know all things that I love to and what skills I have.  The only thing you should do to have a right career path in life is to observed first yourself on what field are you really in. Then, after that decide what makes you love and enjoyed the most. Make sure also about your skills and passion that you will notice you have. Because for me knowing everything you loved to do is the most important thing that you must know first to have a right path to travel on. Along the way on your path don’t change so that people around you will still looking at you on who you are before and will get them amazed by your being consistent.  Career path is a big deal for me to talk to, because it is where your life depend on in the future. Having that kind of Steve career path is tough to have , maybe in some other ways of hardship you will come up with that but If having no determination in life will make it seems to be useless. Another thing was as a I.T. student right now it is our first step to become the next Steve Jobs , we never predict the future you or I can be. But of course being genius and highly imaginative person may be able to deliver us in Steve Jobs position. For me nothing is impossible to a reach your dreams if only you are going to believe in yourself that you can make and do things better that you can imagine. In general, determination, hardship and being creative always counted to have better career path to travel on the future. Remember that if everyone can do it, how much more we are or you are? I’m I right?

Alternative Mindset (June 17, 2014)

On June 17, 2014 it was our second session in Technopreneurship subject. Unfortunately I was late for the first time, as usual as what I always saw and witnessed all those late must show their hidden talent and for me that was a nice experienced after all. Okay, by the ways let me think and refresh first of what we had discussed at that time… hmmm… ?

Yes! That was the alternative mind set a Rationale Technopreneurship. Actually it is my first time to hear about that alternative mind set and the counterpart of it. When I heard that word then I talked to myself “alternative mind set?” “I really have no idea about it, okey fine let me listen to Sir.”  So here it goes, as what I’ ve heard and remembered to our facilitator he said that the default mindset that our parents was usually thinking and telling us about was “go to school, get good grades , and land with good job”. As what I thinking “yeah, our parents was right!” (okay let me pause and listen again). But after that when our facilitator talked about the alternative one which is “ go to school, get good grades, and be an employer in your own business not an employee”. That time, it sinks in my mind that the two has different thoughts and meaning that must be understood well.

As a currently student I will admit that I still have that default mindset that my parents usually tell me until such time after I heard that alternative mind set to our facilitator as a Technopreneurship minded person also, my comprehension was changed about the default one and I realized that our facilitator was right on pushing the thought of the alternative mind set. Yeah, why not after I or you graduated and already have those good grades then you will make your own start up business or being an employer in your own company? Instead being an employee, why not took the alternative one? Of course for me as a Information Technology graduate someday I prefer also to take the alternative one not just to apply on what I’ve learned from Technopreneurship but the alternative mindset also speaks for the reality and the practicality of what people need today. By that kind of thinking many opportunities will open for those who wanted to be employed and I might be that someone who will manage may own business as an employer.  For me it sounds good. When the time comes that many people will think the same way that technopreneur way of thinking too, then our economy will gradually progress because of a big earnings and high technology that we have compared to other country.

I know that the default mind set was good enough but the things will goes is not for our life time benefits anymore. Like for example , you graduated and have good grades then you will become an employee of a certain technological company or just a commercial company then you will be paid in a minimum wage after that you will be going to loan because of having not enough resources to live, after more than a year’s nothing was changed because your just an employee have a minimum  wage then when you get old you will just received a retirement fee by that you cannot see what are those things you are working for , so for me it seems like I was just wasting my whole life to get employed without nothing on hand because of having not enough beneficiary. Things might just happen like that if you will do the same thing that everyone still believes to do. Unlike changing your perspective to follow the new one which is the alternative mindset. Same with , you graduated and having a good grades  then this must be the right thing you will do , to plan and make your own business by the help of technopreneurship methods on developing your own start up, by that when you will having your own business already all the things will easier for you to worked and earned more. The advantage of that was of course you will be an employer on your own and that is the best position you would imagined to have because aside from its yours you will be the one who hire and help other people who wanted to get employ. That will make sense that you are very fortunate that you choose to be a technopreneur. Then when you get old you can still earn big and you can still feed your family with your own developed business. For me the two mindset really have a big differences when get applied and notice that its better to have an alternative mindset.

Back to the situation when our facilitator was always repeating those things I realized that technopreneurship can really big help to those who wanted to become rich and to become an entrepreneur one. Hearing with those mindset that earning money is a big help to have a solution to our economic growth and poverty issues. If establishments/buildings or businesses will get implemented many people will get a new job either will have lots of opportunity then it will really help our country away from being the slowest economic growth in the world. For me it’s your choice to believe and follow all those said mindsets but make sure your job will fits your passion to work for it. I know that still your passion and loved of the things you do will matters the most when time gets you need to decide what path will you take after you will become graduated and having those good or not good grades. I’m sure in the near future when we already reached our goals our parents will be proud of no matter what it takes because more than anyone else they are the one who witnessed all the hardship you gave just to have a better future with them.   

MEETING 2A REFLECTION- what can you do to help propel the economy of Davao City (note: think like a technopreneur)

Being an entrepreneur is not easy. It consists of lots of decision makings. Entrepreneurship subject is one of the best thing that we Filipino must learn to and must share to others. By the ways what are the difference between entrepreneur and entrepreneurship?  As we discuss last meeting (June 24, 2014) it was stated there that Entrepreneur are those people who enter into new and pioneering ventures while Entrepreneurship is starting a new plan. In other words to understand the difference between the two, Entrepreneur is a person who organizes and operates a business venture and assumes much of the associated risk. While Entrepreneurship again is the art of innovation and risk taking for profit in business or the quality of being an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur you must be a hard working person, self confidence, demonstrates initiatives, willing to listen, sets own standards, copes with uncertainty, committed, builds on strength, and other positive traits of a business man. To elaborate more the characteristic of an entrepreneur here are some of my explanations; Hardworking in creating new ideas, on organizing, and doing your job or activity well done. Self confidence in terms of dealing well with your client in proposing and implementing your ideas and innovations. Demonstrates initiatives in a new development or a fresh approach to something or a new way of dealing with a problem. Willing to listen in every idea that comes up from others especially from your client or group members because it may help you a lot in developing or enhancing your skills to create more innovations. Listening is also helpful to gathered more ideas in propelling your place and other things that you wanted to develop. Setting the entrepreneur his/her own standards may help him/her to be more determined and trust worthy by their clients and other people. Having your own standard will made your ideas and innovations more dealing with clients, by that they will make your innovations more interesting and more significance to people. Copes with uncertainty is also one of the most important traits that the entrepreneur must have because it will help him/her to become strong and consistent to his work on creating more ideas and made him to have a long patience. Entrepreneur should have that kind of characteristic to maintain his/her collaboration in the field of technology innovations. Being committed on your work as an entrepreneur means you are being obligated by a pledge to some course of action. In other hands, entrepreneur must be responsible on his/her actions on proposing or proving his/her innovations, that will make sense that he/she was releasing facts about his idea. Lastly entrepreneur must build on strength because it will make him/her strong on every obstacle that he/she will encounter. The fact about being entrepreneur is tough to handle because of many risks that you may oblige to pass in any activity that you are going to worked on.

As a student and might an entrepreneur someday I’m going to propose an innovation that will propel the economy of our vicinity, Davao City. But first of all, we all know that Davao city is known as the largest city in the Philippines and compare to others it’s less risky to visit and live here because of the strict policies and security that our beloved mayor implemented. Beyond that I would like to share what I observed lately in Davao that aside from the cleanliness and anti smoking province there are also lots of investors that would like to build their own businesses here. Many foreigners also visiting Davao and they became more friendly, and generous on what they can help to our fellow men and country because maybe they also appreciated our goodness. Davao City became also known in the country in terms of any big issues and how does the mayor ruling it properly. This is the city where you can walk freely and safe to do the things that you want, but of course that anything you want must be in a good way. The people here also are very accommodating, friendly, generous, wise, rulers; obedient, and hardworking. Dabawenyos are accommodating or hospitable for they are always do welcome the entire tourist that went or visit here in Davao. They gave them a warmth welcome and all the things that they are needed. Dabawenyos are friendly because they always appreciated and approached the newly one in a right manners and good deeds, until such time that they become friends. They are also generous when the time that you needed help especially when you are in trouble and accident. Aside from the rich, the poor one also can contribute anything as long as it can help. For me dabawenyos are wise enough for they know instantly what’s happening in their surroundings, they know what are the differences between good and bad deeds in any situation that they placed in. They are wise to manage well all the things that they think to be organized and fixed even in the outside life that they are move’n. Some are also rulers, rulers of implementing and managing for good. They became models own their own, they became once a leader without knowing that they become appreciated. Rulers in giving, sharing, and helping others. Rulers in showing that it doesn’t matter where you came from and what life you had as long as you did what’s right are counted and the equality is still present. Dabawenyos are obedient because most of the time they follow all the policies or rules that the government here in Davao implemented. They follow all the obvious right things that they must do. They are hard working also because as what I’ve observed they are willing and trying to improve their lives by working so hard, especially students. I’ am very salute to those students who worked so hard for their studies and family matters. They deserved to have a high wage if they are working while studying because for me it’s not easy, it’s not easy for they still have the feelings to be tired not just in physical but also in mental. So these are just the characteristic of the Dabawenyos that everyone must see and appreciated. I didn’t mean that all dabawenyos have those characteristics just some of them. I’m just looking for the good side of being a dabawenyos to have a good view on seeing why Davao city deserved to be improve and more attractive to the tourist.

Without the implementation of our Mayor, Davao city wouldn’t be as progress as it is now. As what I observed here, the economy is good enough compared to others. But why does our economy needs to be more progressive? Anyhow others didn’t care about it. And what does economy really means? -Economy is the system of production and distribution and consumption. The overall measure of a currency system, which our city and country needs to managed well. Economy has a big role to make our lives more comfortable, develop, and easy to worked on. Our economy needs to be progress for us people to have a better life to live like having a permanent job, easy working environment and people, like having enough food, enough things to handle with and other instances if ever we have a progressive economy. Our city (Davao city) nowadays gives us enough security and needs but as the years passed by it is a must that we need not just to maintain the economy’s status but to make it more progressive every year.

As a citizen here in Davao it is our responsibility to contribute and propel the economy, because we are still the one who get involved, benefits and suffered all the things that might happen in our city. Being the beneficiary we need to think wise and brilliant of what must the city needs and lack. We citizen here in Davao has the ability to think like an entrepreneur and apply the technopreneurship method to help our city. By that kind of mind set it’s easy and efficient for us to think an idea to innovate some things in a good way. By the way what the technopreneurship stands for? According to our facilitators video collection about techno there was those people who got interviewed and answered about what is technopreneurship. They said that technopreneurship is something that deals with technology innovation business. Some also said that where you can develop and apply technology that is available right now here in our country or local areas. It is also marketing or selling products to ticketing and it is also related to information technology where it relay the facts about doing or dealing a technology business. Furthermore, it’s more on developing technology and markets it to those companies who are willing to have it.

Compare to other countries cities they have a progressive economy and a lot of observations you may gathered from them like people lives their lives easily every day, they don’t have to worry about what will tomorrow’s bring them especially in their job aspects. Same here in Davao we need our economy progress to have a better future not just in ourselves today but for the next generation. The first thing I’ve think about to propel the economy of Davao city there must be lots of investors that will build their own business here so that many establishments will grow and develop. By that lots of opportunities will come up and provides people the jobs that they are willing and deserved to have. Then those people will live their lives comfortably and never as for anything to provides the needs of their families. Aside from the opportunities to get jobs, it is also important to have those person who as the unique thinking of giving an idea on how our economy will continuous be develop and progress. Those people are called as Entrepreneur, they have that ability to innovate not just technology but other related things that they think it’s better to have.

As an educated person someday, if I were graduated I can be an entrepreneur too. I will invest my own company to help our economy more progressive. A company that will hire and composes an individual that has distinct characteristics in innovating technologies. A technology that has different kind and functions to help the everyday works and problem of the people here in Davao city. Until such time that I will need to hire more employees to be more productive to sustain the needs of the people. By that I might contribute a big idea to help our economy. That idea would be possible if we are going to help each other to have one goal to pursue. If my company earns big because of different kinds of innovations of my employees, then it is not possible that our fellow men will patronize our product not just here in our local community but to other places, after that we are going to launch it to every countries that we’ve known that they knew about our innovations. I will deal with those business tycoons about our products, by that Davao City will become known to the whole world as productive and brilliant innovators. Innovators that are highly technologist on releasing new idea. Then part of the big earnings of my company I will give it to Davao City funds to create and build more projects and activities that may help the people to be more productive and creative. Then apart from it I will also focus on inviting all those fresh graduates to attend seminars and training to be part of my company. Included those less literate in technology, then If they will become more hands on to love what will technology will bring them then I will gave them the opportunity to work on  my well known company. Of course these are just the possible thing will happened for me in the future if I’ am going and willing to contribute to propel the economy of Davao city.

To be in real, as an ordinary student who taking up Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at the University of Southeastern Philippines I can see that I’ am capable of helping more Davao city in its gradual economy progress state. I can deal with those companies who needed an IT expert to do the things that they want to develop by that I can be one of their assets in helping them to reach out their goals or aims. As an employee I will be a good model or example to show to others my determination and loved of what job I have right now. By then I might be able to help them inspired to do the same way too, so that they can stand alone and prove to everyone that they can have that ability to improve. Of course I would like also doing it in the outside, aside in the work place because I wanted to guide everyone to become an entrepreneur without orienting them. I can also invest my own business on training those less fortunate one who are field to graduate on how they are going to start their wanted business, by that they will become more knowledgeable and wise to start up. I will organize a business group to help me teach those people to know their power to handle any kind of business. By their help, those people who are willing to give their best and eager to learn well will given a big opportunity to start a new beginning of their own businesses. More on that they will also give a chance to deal with those business tycoons in Davao City to prove that they can make a difference. For me it’s valuable that those less fortunate one also deserved to learn because we might not know about the future that one of them will help the economy of Davao City, and maybe not just Davao city but to our whole country. I believed also that learning technology especially computers with those poor people will help our economy progress because I know some of them built already the confidence to worked hard , how much more they are going to received such knowledge from us? Isn’t it making sense that some of the poor are brilliant and genius? Yes, we never know that lots of them never reveal their true knowledge and wisdom to contribute what they can help about our economy. I believed that poor people are the most observative one on what was happening in their surroundings and doing nothing will made them realized and imagined more on the things that they wanted to become someday. Teaching and learning them a technology and anything free may help minimized the high rate of poverty here in Davao because for me lots of them are willing to have a job and we all know they are wanted to strive hard for their families. Of course I know that some of them are lazy that’s why they don’t get a job and that’s made me realized to motivate them hardly to do their responsibility not just a part of a family but a big part of a progressive economy in our city in the near future. 

3 Idiots - Movie Reflection

“3 Idiots” a Bollywood 2009 movie that really inspired me. This movie shows many lessons in life especially when it comes to education, on how we are going to deal and enjoy it to have a great and successful future. Actually I already watched this movie 2 years ago but since it was long ago, I thought I forgotten it. But this time (on July 28, 2014) I watched it again for the sake of restoring all the happenings in the movie to write a reflection about it. After I watched, I realized that this movie is worth watching again and again. And this gave me the chance to express my feelings and reactions about all the things that they have done on the movie.

Let me start on introducing the three main characters; Fahran,Raju, and Rancho.These men have different goals in terms of their professions in the future but still they have the same thing on opposing and fighting on what they want. Each of them has a unique personality and ability to stand and make difference among others. They studied at ICE (Imperial College of Engineering)one of the prestigious school in India. Each one has different family background, different characteristics to the colorful picture of Indian college. Farhan, Raju, and Rancho brought he audiences with their meaningful lessons. 

Starting with Farhan, his dream was to be a wildlife photographer. Since he was a kid his parents always there for him to provide everything he needed in school, until he was in college just to be comfortable as an engineering student. His parents wanted him to become an engineer, to give pleasure to his family. He gave up his dream and enrolled to the prestigious school as an engineering student. Since he appreciated his parent’s efforts of giving him everything he needed he never opposed and live his student life as he never could decide. Finally, with the help of Rancho, Farhan realized where does his passion lay, which is being a wildlife Photographer. Although wildlife photographer cannot bring him as much money compare of being an engineer, but the happiness that it will bring to him cannot replaced by anything. Capturing the beauty of life, experience, and nature are one of the best thing that he can portray. I was moved at the moment when Fahran tried to persuade his father to let him follow his passion. His father silently closed the laptop then, asked Farhan if it could be exchanged for a good camera for his passion, I was almost burst into tear.

The second one is Raju. Raju was born poor and deprivated family. His father got sick leading to huge consumption of money for pharmacy. His sister cannot get married without a car offering to her husband’s family as the returned fortune. It is a traditional custom of Indian. That the girl’s family has to make an offering to the male side that’s why in India as people avoid giving birth to girls in order not to pay such return. Therefore Raju took the responsibility to help his family out to poverty. Since he knew about their status in life he strived to excel in every exam at college, because he is afraid about his future that might he never can’t help his family. He tried to scram for exam but he always came last on exams. His friends Farhan and Rancho never leave him despite all of his disappointment in life. Finally, after a botched attempt of committing suicide, he realized what Rancho has wanted him to understand that life isn’t that perfect but you have the power to make it better. And it is to escape from fear. Fear about future just prevents him from living well at the present. There was a part at the end that he was given the opportunity to have an interview and was finally helped him win a job in an engineering firm.Then he realized that the real value of life was not found on having lots of money but taking all chances can make it difference and success will take place. 

The last one was Rancho, he was the most unique and genius college engineering student in the movie. Every time he appears in the movie he has that extraordinary aura and doings that will inspired every audience to be amazed by him. He gave some lessons in life as a student that we don’t need to earn knowledge by schooling but we can also get it from our experiences and status in life. asked questions at right places at right times, simplifying complicated concepts mentioned in the text books, coming up with bright ideas, which are not dared to be thought by other students. He always challenged the old methods of learning presented by Mr. Virus. He insisted that learned technology because of passion and never stop searching new things because it can really help you to be more creative, innovative, and a big dreamer to your own small world of living. Perseverance to learn is a place of enlightens ideas and dedicated love to study. Finally, with his bravery, intelligence, and helpfulness, he has conquered one by one, from Raju to the strict Principal. Rancho, however, disappeared without saying goodbye to his friends and his lover.

If I’m going to choose one of the three characters, I will choose Rancho for he was the one that I adored the most on having that fearless knowledge and intelligence on showing and proving his ability to others that each one of us can make a difference and we have that extraordinary intellectual to stand alone and to excel in every fields and dreamt that we deserved to be and to have. For me he is a good example on learning the field of technology with passion and perseverance. He loved to study more new things. I loved his characteristic in the movie because he’s the one who made me realized that we must follow or heart on what passion we had. He gave me that feelings that I can be who I want to be, on where and when I’ am going to apply and show my passion. Being true to yourself will make your world easier and comfortable. Becoming the most excellent student at school doesn’t matter anymore if you had your real passion you would be happy at least. Rancho is one of a kind; he never leaved his friends despite of their disabilities in conquering and fighting for their passion, family and life. He is also beside them like I used to do sometimes to my friends. I really wanted to help them as possible as what I can give and help them. Rancho also gave me that insight about his most memorable quote that was:”Strive for excellence. Success will follow you. “Actually this quote never applies to my real world of being an Information technology student but I know that if I’ am going to do this it will make me realized that striving for excellence will bring me to become productive, innovative, and responsible college student. And of course success will follow me for I’ am willing to show my passion on what field I belong. I liked also about Farhan and Raju but compared to Rancho he is the best.

As a college student the truth about Farhan’s and Raju’s student life was the one who fitted my student life also. Being an Information Technology student isn’t really my passion but all I remembered was if I’ am mistaken to took this program I might should set my mind to think that I need to experience a new things for me to learn more on what does technology really means in this world. To be honest choosing this program at that time was unintentional. And right now I’m living my student’s life harder as I thought. Dealing this kind of program really made me suffered but just because of my family I’m choosing to pursue it harder as I can. Farhan’s life and mine had a little bit similarities. That’s why when his parents understand his passion of being a wildlife photographer it really touches my heart and at that time I’m trying to cheer myself to stop my tears falling. In Raju’s life, we really had the same experiences. Experienced on dealing with poverty, I took also responsibilities on how I’ am going to carry out my family from poverty. They have their big expectations for me, and that makes me feel so helpless that I have no choice but to study hard and to excel. Unfortunately like Raju I’ am always failed to do my best to proved and show them that I really did what the best thing I can.  Aside from the pressured that is necessary to motivate students to try their level best, here it also a pressured that you must be useful of your family in the near future, if not, you might think to be useless somehow. That’s why like Raju I’ am also afraid of what future will bring me, and like Rancho I’ am also finding that someone who will make me feel and to understand about escaping from fear, fear about future. Like what they always said in the movie “ALL IS WELL”, everything will be alright.
